Labor Day Weekend

We are not doing much this weekend, but sometimes that is a good feeling. Not rushing around all over the place. This past week we finally bought Sarah her shoes for pointe. It was a long time coming, but we finally got a pair that fits. I had to sew all the elastics and ribbons on for her and she actually got part of a lesson with the shoes on Tuesday night. Today she is walking around the house in them trying to break them in and she keeps saying, "aren't they pretty?"
This afternoon, Bill and Daniel went to the Rays game. We only have tickets for a couple more games for this regular season. We are trying to get the post season tickets, too, but man, they are not cheap. I think we will get them anyway. We have waited so long for this!

First Day of School...Take Two

We are going to try this again. Here is Daniel all ready for his first day of middle school. He is SO ready for this. He is SO excited. Not surprisingly, his tummy was a little upset this morning, but we didn't dwell on it and I am sure he will be just fine.
Here is Sarah on her first day of the last year of middle school. I think that is what she told me! She is excited. More excited to see her friends and catch up than the actual school part. We found her schedule on the Parent Connect site yesterday, so even though she doesn't know the order of her classes, she knows who her teachers are going to be.

Can you believe how much taller Sarah is than Daniel? I wonder how long that will last?
Here I snuck a photo of the kids walking to the bus stop! I had told them that I would refrain from embarrassing them at the bus stop with the camera. I couldn't resist this and Daniel caught me! He was trying to hide!
After the bus left from the neighborhood across the street, the kids let me pop this photo. That's because there were no other kids around yet. LOL!
I'm going to be dead for this one if they actually saw me take it! I guess they can just blame their mom for being a dork!

First Day of School

Today is the first day of school. Thank goodness! Daniel has been driving us nuts this past week. We have purchased school supplies, new clothes, new shoes. Daniel had his 6th grade orientation last week and last night we went to the middle school to pick up his schedule. We are pleased about his teachers! We bought the locks, funded the lunch accounts and our musical instruments are ready to go.

Oh! What is this photo, you ask? It is the bus stop at 9 a.m. this morning....the first day of school! Oh! Where are the children, you ask? Well, school was actually canceled for today. Tropical Storm Fay decided to take a tour of Florida and the powers that be had to determine yesterday whether school would start or not. With the threat of the storm and the possibility of having to place folks from Evacuation Level A and mobile homes into shelters (which just happen to be the schools), school was canceled. It appears that we are going to be lucky here in our area. We should be getting some rain and thunder and wind, but we are going to miss the major part of the storm.

Tomorrow........tomorrow will be the first day of school.

Just a bunch of rock stars

Here they are. The Rock Band! Daniel has been saving his money for a long time. He has wanted Rock Band for Wii, but he didn't quite have enough money all by himself. He talked Sarah into making a contribution to the new game, too. He went online and figured out what it cost at Sam's Club with tax. Then when Bill and I went to check on it, he didn't realize that the price was for home delivery NOT in the store price. The in store price was $20 more and they didn't have that much extra money. Daniel was so disappointed. I suggested looking on Craig's List to see if someone might be selling one. Not only did we find a couple for sale, one was only about 3 miles from us. It was $62 less than buying it in the store. The kids got it in less than an hour for less money than they had expected. The person selling it had used it once or twice so it is in perfect condition. They have been banging on drums and singing ever since!
