Go Rays!

Okay, tonight is the night. If they don't win tonight......it is all over. Well, at least for this year. It has been a lot of fun. I really would like the Rays to win tonight because Bill and I have the tickets for Game 6 on Wednesday night.
I decided that 'Scrappy' needed to get into the Rays fever so here she is.

It's Halloween Time

Sarah had the EDGE Halloween party on Friday night. She had thought up her costume at least two months ago. She won the prize for the most original costume at the party, too.
She walked around saying things like, "Wow! I say it louder" and "Surprise!!" or "Grrr! That's a cat!"

7 Weird Facts about me

Several of my online friends have challenged me to post 7 weird facts about myself.
Here is goes.

1. I HAVE mowed lawns before, also have helped change the oil in my car, bleed the brakes, and change tires.
2. I bite my fingernails. No particular reason. Can't stop. Only time I have had pretty nails is for a year or so back in the early/mid 1990's when I got acrylic nails done every two weeks. I NEVER bit them when I had the acrylic but they were certainly a lot of maintenance.
3. I took four years of Spanish in high school. I really cannot speak Spanish.
4. I like my beef cooked medium rare. Please don't cook it more than that, it ruins it. I hate to have to prepare meat well done. Almost cannot do it.
5. My knee hurts a lot every single day. Doesn't really seem to matter what I do or do not do. I know I need the surgery, but I am apparently too young. I try not to complain or even make it evident that it hurts, but limping is difficult to hide.
6. I have had some very strange surgeries. Benign tumor on my parotid gland at 16 years old that came back several years later and needed to be removed again. This resulted in a 6 hours surgery with an ICU stay and lots of care. Also, had a HUGE dermoid cyst on one of my ovaries that had to be removed via and awful surgery. I do not have two full ovaries. One is only 1/3 intact and the other one is 2/3 intact. It didn't seem to effect my ability to get pregnant, however.
7. I never go my lower wisdom teeth. Never formed in my jaw.

Simple pleasures

Beryl, over at House of Paper, suggested that we have blog prompts. It has taken me almost a week to do this one, but I guess it is better late than never.
The prompt for this week is simple pleasures. Why do I find this difficult?
I guess I'll try.

They Did It!

The Rays are going to the World Series!!! Bill and I got to go the game last night, and boy, what a game it was! It was exciting and scary and loud and late! We stayed after the game for a bit at the Trop. to take in the moment.

Pie Contest

Last night was our First Annual Harvest Blessings Choir Ministry Pot Luck. It really was quite fun. One of the things that had us going was a pie making contest. The kids really wanted to make pies from scratch. Funny thing, neither one has ever baked a pie before. Daniel made an apple pie and wanted his crust to have latticework on top. Sarah only likes pumpkin pie, so that is what she wanted to bake. I made an Autumn cheesecake and just did it in a pie pan. The kids were amazed at how hard the crust was to make, especially since they don't really like to actually eat the crust. We had fun and here is a result of our pie making. None of us won the contest, but we had fun working on the pies.

Crazy Days

Why are there days that just have too much to do in them? I try not to schedule days like this, but sometimes a calm day just morphs into a crazy day.
I worked today which isn't too bad. I had plenty of time to attend to things after work. It is now that the day will be crazy. Sarah's friend's mom just dropped the kids and her friend off from school. The girls have middle school band night at the high school tonight. I am afraid I will just be dropping them off because I have choir practice and the next three weeks of choir practice look bleak for me at best. Bill has a last minute Boy Scout leader meeting tonight. Daniel will be staying home by himself again. Luckily, Sarah's friend's mom will be picking them up after the football game. I'm not going at all so there will be no photos this time. :( I'm just feeling like my load is light, though. Sarah's friend's mom has 4 daughters and she is going nuts tonight with all of their activities as well! I want to watch the Rays game tonight, too. I'll miss a good chunk of it.
Well, need to go fix something to eat for the kids. I think sandwiches are in order.

Gymnastics Meet

Sarah and I went to Tampa to watch my niece, Allison compete in a gymnastics meet. We missed her first two events by 5 minutes....they started early, but we got to see her do the beam and bars. There is no way I would even attempt anything like that. It is amazing to watch all these little bodies do what they do.
Allison won second all around for her level and age group. She did a great job and was pretty proud of herself!

American League Championship Game

So here is the gang! They got to go to the Rays first ever, American League Championship game. It was against the Boston Red Sox. Unfortunately, the Rays lost 2-0 in this first game, but we are not giving up yet!!

I gave Sarah my camera and told her to take photos. She was down at the field visiting Grandpa's friend, Larry and she turned around and looked up. Our seats are above that second A in Tropicana...three rows up. We are right above the press box and we are right behind home plate. We love these seats.
David Archuletta, from American Idol fame, was there in the 7th inning to sing God Bless America. Sarah was so excited that she actually saw someone famous singing in person. He was sort of far away, so she took the photo of the Jumbotron. I think it was a good compromise and a good photo.

WooHoo!

With the Rays win tonight, they are going to be in the AL Championship Series! This is just so exciting! They won their 100th game of the season tonight, too. Now we just have to wait and see if we will be playing the Angels or the Red Sox. I hope it is the Red Sox. That way we are here on the east coast and also we get the first two games at home. If they play the Red Sox, we have the tickets for Sat. game.

They Won!

Bill and I were lucky enough to get to go to the Rays first ever, play off game! It was on Thursday at 2:30 which sort of threw a wrench into some normal activities, like work, but we managed.
The pregame events were pretty cool. A 17 year old local boy play the National Anthem on the saxophone and the local Coast Guard unfurled this huge flag on the field.

We asked an usher to take our photo so we could prove we were actually at the game.
This was the first pitch of the game. It was funny to look across the field and see all the folks that were taking photos of this historic event!
The game was VERY exciting. The crowd was energized. We had so much fun and both of us were quite hoarse after the game from all of our cheering.
The Rays won the second game on Friday, so now they are off to Chicago to try to win just one more so they can continue on in the playoffs. We have been waiting a long time for this and it is sure fun!
